Step back into American Samoa’s wartime past at this well-preserved site tucked behind the Office of Veterans Affairs in Tafuna. Once part of the largest WWII installation on the island, the site includes the original control tower, a concrete pillbox, and an underground bunker that supported the airbase during the Pacific campaign. The 6,000 ft (1,829 m) runway once hosted bombers and fuel depots vital to the war effort. Today, the site is surrounded by peaceful gardens, offering a quiet space for exploration and reflection.
