Description
For those craving a rugged adventure, the Tuafanua Trail delivers. This 2.2 mi (3.5 km) return hike starts behind the bright red building at the northern end of Vatia Village and quickly plunges into thick forest. The trail includes steep ladders, rope sections, narrow ridgelines, and a final descent to a wave-lashed rocky beach. It’s not for the faint-hearted – but the wild views and remote setting make it worth every step. No swimming here, but plenty of photo ops and solitude.
Highlights
- Hike through dense jungle to reach a secluded rocky beach
- Brave steep descents using ropes and ladders
- Enjoy dramatic coastal views far from the crowds
