Climb to one of American Samoa’s most rewarding viewpoints with this steep 5.5 km (3.4 mi) trek on Ofu Island. The Mt Tumu Hiking Trail winds past ancient village sites (where quiet respect is appreciated) before reaching a jaw-dropping lookout over Ofu Beach, Sunu’itao Peak, and Olosega Island. The trail is rugged and overgrown in places, taking around 2 hrs 30 mins to reach the top. A local guide from Ofu Village is highly recommended to help navigate the pink ribbon markers, avoid wrong turns, and support the community.
