Positioned across from Ta'ū Beach, the Manu'a Flagpole marks the historic spot where the American flag was first raised over the Manu'a Islands in 1904, cementing their place in the United States territory. Today, three flagpoles stand tall, proudly flying the American, American Samoan, and Manu'an flags. The landmark is especially meaningful during Manu'a Cession Day on 16 July, when a ceremonial flag raising draws the local community and visitors alike.
