Description

Right in the heart of Fagatogo, this striking two-storey wooden courthouse has withstood more than 100 years of tropical weather, cyclones, and termites – and it still stands proud. Built between 1900 and 1904, it originally served as the seat of the territorial executive and naval offices before becoming the High Court. A 1929 expansion and 1975 restoration helped preserve its charm, and it now sits proudly on the US National Register of Historic Places under its original name: Navy Building No. 21.

Highlights

  • Admire a rare example of early 1900s wooden colonial architecture
  • Explore one of American Samoa’s oldest and most historic government buildings
  • Located opposite the Visitors Bureau and Fagatogo Square
